What are Sebaceous Glands Used for?

Sebaceous glands play a crucial role – they produce sebum and secrete it through their excretory ducts. Ducts walls are padded with cells which are constantly renewed. Dead cells are excreted as horny cells. Sebum and horny cells are excreted by excretory ducts on the surface of the skin and they are its protection against the environment.
The illness may be caused by many factors. Inheritance plays a crucial role here. Moreover, sexual hormones (male sexual hormones, so-called androgens), produced excessively by the body during puberty, stimulate sebaceous glands to produce much sebum.
