Ayurvedic Treatment for Acne

Acne is a very common problem affecting teenagers. It is a skin complaint in which spots, blackheads and pimples appear on the face, neck and body.
Acne is an inflammatory skin disorder. There are various ayurvedic treatments available for acne treatment. The ayurvedic name for acne disease is ‘Yauvan Pidika‘.
Acne has a close relation with stomach conditions. Hence, excessive salty, sweet, sour, non-vegetarian and oily foods can exacerbate the condition. Proper sleep, balanced diet and breathing exercises such as Pranayam are beneficial.
According to ayurved improper diet is a major factor in pathogenesis of any diseases.
Ayurvedic Treatment for Pimples—Some Basic Home Based Formulations
  • Drinking a lot of water also helps as this facilitates the elimination of bodily wastes that may cause or worsen the skin condition.
  • Make a paste of fresh fenugreek leaves and water. Apply it all over your face and leave overnight. Wash off the next day. This could be an effective remedy for treating blackheads as well.
  • If your pimples have developed painful swelling, the best remedy is to extract the juice of raw papaya fruit. You need to keep the skin and the seeds when making the pulp for juice extraction. Once the juice has been extracted, apply these on the pimples for immediate relief.
  • Wash your face with the mixture of boiled milk and lime juice, if you have developed pimples, acne, broken skin, rashes or blackheads.
  • Make the paste of haridra and chandana and apply it on your face. Leave local applications on the face for about twenty minutes (till it dries) and then wash your face with luke warm water.
  • Before going to bed apply a thin layer of cream of milk to cover the face. On waking up clean the face with cold water. Scrape a piece of turmeric on a rough surface using a few drops of water. Take out the ensuing paste and add a drop of linseed oil to it.
  • Cut out fats and take leafy vegetables in plenty with proper washing and cleaning, it will form bulk of the stool you pass and will give you relief from constipation.
  • Take sufficient amount of water, liquid juice etc., which will reduce dryness of intestine and will drain out wastes from your blood through urine. Fruit juice such as grapes, lemon etc., is recommended
  • Preserving the food in refrigerator and then cooking it has become a need of our fast life style, it decreases food nutrition value. Avoid this way of life, as far as possible. Consume fresh food.
